Engraving Information
You got your perfect wedding rings picked out, but how can you make them even more special?
Why not get them engraved with your own personal message? Engraving is a great way to
personalize your wedding rings, so they aren't just wedding rings, they're your wedding rings.
Engravings are usually done on the inside of the ring, but can be done on the outside of the
ring as well at no extra cost. At Bay Rings, we are proud to offer the most engraving options
to our customers by having more fonts and symbols than anyone else. We use the latest high
tech lasers to give you a precise and easy to read engraving.
What is Laser Engraving?
As the name suggests, the use of a laser is involved with this style of engraving. In reality,
a laser does not actually engrave your ring, as engraving involves etching or carving. A laser
actually burns your personal message on to the surface of the ring. So, the correct term
should be "laser marking", but most people refer to it as laser engraving and the name has
stuck. Laser engraving can be done on any metal as well. Many fonts and symbols are
available. In fact, just about any image or font can be done with a laser engraver, as long as
we can get it into the proper file format. If you would like something custom laser engraved
on to your ring, chances are we can do it. Please contact us with your request and we will
provide you a quote. To read more about laser engraving please visit Wikipedia.
What are the differences between traditional and Laser Engraving?
Laser engraving tends to be easier to read because the laser burns the metal, turning it darker,
so it stands out more. However, that is not to say that a traditional engraving is hard to
read. Traditional engraving is carved into a ring, so depth makes it readable.
Where should my engraving be on my ring?
Usually, customers engrave on the inside of the ring. That means it is the part of the ring
touching you finger when you are wearing it. This way others can't see your special message
unless you take the ring off. However, some people want the world to see their engraving. In
this case, they choose to have their engraving done on the outside of the ring. So, when they
are wearing their ring, others can see their engraving message. . There is no right or wrong
place to engrave your ring. It all comes down to personal preference, and we are proud to be
able to offer you the option that suits you best.
What's the Cost for Engraving?
The engraving fee is £15 for traditional engraving and £45 for Laser Engraving. This includes
up to 30 characters or symbols, including spaces. Engravings up to 30 characters are usually
enough for most people's personal messages. Please contact us if you wish to go above 30
characters. If you would like both inside and outside engravings this would be charged as two
separate engravings. We can also engrave in any font you see in Microsoft Word at no extra
cost. If you want a font we don't offer, just contact us with the name of the font and we'll
see if we can do it for you.
How long does it take?
Traditional machine engraving will take just one extra day.
Laser engraving can take UP to 7 working days to get your product engraved and despatched from
our warehouse. In most cases it should not take this long but you should allow this amount of
time if you want the ring to arrive in time for a special occasion.
